In March, we announced the beta release of our first two SDKs for Twitter API v2 - packages for JavaScript/TypeScript, and Java. We’ve been grateful to the community for helping us to refine the SDKs over the past few months, and we will continue to do so based on your feedback. Now, we’re excited to bring our SDKs and examples and templates for using them, as well as other Twitter API samples, to our new team space on Replit.
If you’re not familiar with Replit, it’s a platform where you can quickly write code and host apps (“Repls”), directly through your browser. It supports a range of different technology stacks, live collaboration (i.e. it's in the cloud so you can code with others in the same app at the same time), and has educational and community features, too! We’re excited to work with the folks over at Replit to bring some of our samples to the community there, and we expect to continue to add more of them over time.
For example, our first demo app connects to the sampled stream and plots Tweets with location information as points onto an interactive globe that you can rotate in the browser. This is neat, but it is just a starting point. Users on Replit can fork the Repl and start to add features of their own.
You can start exploring the new Twitter page on Replit right now! If you’d like to make the most of the examples, you will want to make sure that you have a Twitter Developer Account (get started here), and to create a new Project and App. Once you have done so, you can follow the instructions in the templates or demo Repls to set your app secrets.
We hope you enjoy learning more about Twitter API v2 and our SDKs, on Replit. We’re excited to hear what you think, so let us know, either on Replit, or in our developer community forums, or on Twitter!
