Today, we’re deprecating Twitter Developer Labs and all of the remaining Labs endpoints, including:
Labs will be retired in 60 days on Monday, October 31, 2022. We encourage you to migrate to the v2 equivalents as soon as possible.
Why we’re deprecating Twitter Developer Labs
Maintaining Twitter Developer Labs requires energy that can best serve our developer community if repurposed towards innovation on the Twitter API v2. Replacements for these endpoints have been available on the Twitter API v2 for some time and we’re committed to making migration from these Labs features easy.
We launched Twitter Developer Labs over three years ago as part of our plan to build the next generation of the Twitter API alongside our developer community. Today, the Twitter API v2 serves the majority of developer use-cases, and includes features originally built and tested in Labs like hide replies, Tweet metrics, filtered stream, sampled stream, recent search, and more.
Migration resources
Developers using the labs/2/tweets endpoints are encouraged to adopt the v2 Tweet lookup endpoint. A migration guide is available for migrating from Labs to v2.
Developers using the labs/2/users endpoints are encouraged to adopt the v2 user lookup endpoint. A migration guide is available for migrating from Labs to v2.
Additionally, we’ve reached out directly to the qualified developers that are currently using the Labs COVID-19 stream and provided access to the Twitter API v2 to continue their important research.
Stay tuned for more exciting releases on the Twitter API v2 soon.
